DAUGHTER, ACTUALLY
Daughter, Actually is a short film about mothers and daughters and the choices they make. Starring Sheila Barton and Heather Plank, the film has been honored as an official selection in several festivals including New Filmmakers New York, Great Northern, Madrid, Madras, and The Seventh Film Festival of Miami. It also earned a Best Debut Director award for Jen Mitlas at the Madras Independent Film Festival.
RICKY RHIZOME
With animation by Marc Schuster and Music by Jen Mitlas, Ricky Rhizome tells the story of a potato who's on the run from a shady paramilitary organization. This animated short was featured in the online arts journal Affinity CoLab and is (very) loosely based on the rhizomatic theory formulated by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari.
MILK FUDGE
Filmed in a single afternoon and completely improvised, Milk Fudge tells the story of three friends debating the true nature of candy as they journey toward a mysterious figure known only as "Jerry." Starring Tim Connelly, Jen Mitlas, and Marc Schuster, Milk Fudge won awards for best picture, best editing, best writing, and best sound design in the Montgomery County Five-Day Film Festival.
